Founded by Cordelle Cabey, co-owner of the Dementia Friendly Barbers, and Thomas Roberts, DFR was created in response to a critical gap in the sector: the need for leaders who truly understand and prioritise dementia care.

Dementia Friendly Barbers

We deliver more than just haircuts—we provide “barber therapy”—a tailored experience that combines professional grooming with sensory engagement, music, and nostalgic conversation. Our pop-up barbershops recreate the classic barbershop atmosphere, helping residents feel relaxed, valued, and connected to cherished memories.

Since launching last year, we’ve worked with over 100 care homes and 15 care groups, supporting more than 2,000 gentlemen across the UK. The feedback from care teams and families has been overwhelmingly positive, with many reporting improvements in mood, engagement, and overall well being.

We are also incredibly proud to receive feedback from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who have highlighted the positive impact our service has on residents’ emotional wellbeing and social engagement, and we have been highlighted in reports as an Outstanding additional service to care homes. Many of the homes we work with have included our barbering sessions as part of their meaningful activity programmes, contributing to high standards of person-centred care.
